OUR STORY
It all started with Orange and Blues, a time-honored Spring tradition in Gainesville where the Florida Gator’s scrimmage their way into one final hurrah before turning over for a scintillatingly subdued Summer. What was yet to come was still bubbling underneath the simmering swamp boil of a band named Honorable Mentions. As the semester wound down, the band set out to host its own show as a tribute to the aforementioned Orange and Blue game.
With direct control over sound and band booking, they produced a show that exceeded their expectations.
An untapped grassroots foundation was uncovered both in attendance and energy. It begged the question: what if we could produce more shows under our own management and direction, without third-party influence? But with graduation around the corner and Summer rearing its sloven head, the remaining band members – Jack, Ary and Manny, – hunkered down for the Summer and waited for an answer.
The boys thought to themselves a simple premise: what if we kept on producing our own shows, ensuring bands were not left without a stage to perform, and giving everyone the ability to share in the love of music that kept them together?
Thus, Jam was born.
A combination of the aforementioned trios’ initials (J - A - M), it encapsulated the artistic spirit that all musicians share in the love of their craft. Jam represents the freedom to play without restraint, to enjoy in the collaboration of making music, or to perform in front of a rowdy crowd of three hundred.
Jam was born from the same cramped rehearsal spaces that bands find their start in. Jam is a spontaneous reaction. Jam is intentional combustion and improvised madness alike. Jam is an instinctive dedication to deliberate planning, where everyone who shows up to our show will have a good time - because we intend for them to have a great time.
Jam stands behind the creative integrity that built it in the first place. We understand bands’ plight: the struggle to find a partner in an industry that preys on their artistry, their blind faith, where everyone seems to want a piece of their hard-earned work. But Jam understands that artists are the foundation of any show and of all music scenes; we understand it because we’ve been in their shoes, and we’ll jump any fence in support of all bands.
And it’s because we focus on the music.
Jam’s singular goal is to provide support and infrastructure that helps bands play shows. But not just another show: an epic show, the one that you’ll remember thirty years from now and still be telling your kids about.
Jam provides the support that matches an artist’s enthusiasm for their art.
So we’ll always be in your corner.
No matter what.
